I got to go to the beach when I was home, and it was a beautiful day! It was warm and sunny, which is rare for Stinson Beach. It's typically foggy and cool in the morning because it's in the Bay Area. I used my day at the beach as an opportunity to get extra nautical with my outfit.
Shirt: J Crew
Shorts: Banana Republic
Watch: Sperry
Bracelet: Kiel James Patrick
Along with the opportunity to be nautical, the ocean is also a wonderful place for self reflection and inner peace. I tried to practice my mindfulness there as I thought about the warmth of the sun, the gentle crash of the waves, and the overall serenity that the ocean brings. Breathing in fresh ocean air always revives me. It is the perfect place to temporarily let go of your worries and enjoy life's beauty and simplicity. We often complicate life with our thoughts, but the ocean can remind us of how wonderful it is.
Stinson Beach is somewhat of a hidden gem. The road to the beach is very windy, but the view is worth it. Cruising down the coast with the windows open is one of the best feelings in the world. It is a rare opportunity to escape the demand of technology and just enjoy life and live in the moment.
Stinson is located in Marin County, which is a small town in the Bay. Ever since I was little, my family has gone to that beach, so it has sentimental value to me. When I am at Stinson Beach, I truly feel like I am home. The smile comes to my face naturally.
Before this trip, I had a huge final project to do for my summer class. I was scrambling to finish it the night before, because there was no way I could finish it before we left for the beach. Ironically, I was writing an article about Mindfulness. It turns out that writing this article was a great reminder for me to implement mindfulness back into my life. During the early months of summer, I was first implementing mindfulness into my life and found great success with it. However, my summer class that I took during the second half of summer proved to be quite stressful. I stopped using mindfulness as much and started relying more on my Ativan prescription, because it was easier to just temporarily delay the anxiety.
I highly recommend Ativan for times when one's anxiety seems to be unbearable, but Mindfulness is far more effective for long term control of anxiety. It was good to have this reminder, especially when I was at the beach. I was able to reconnect with my inner peace and relax after a hard semester. My experience with mindfulness has been very positive, and I am a huge advocate for its power. A lot of times, the simplest solution is the most effective. This proves true with Mindfulness.
